Phoenix Weaponry of Colorado has just unveiled their new AR platform chambered in .45-70 Auto.
Owner Aaron Cayce wrote the following on YouTube, ” This gun started out as a personal project that has been languishing on the back burner for several years. This year we had the opportunity to bring my idea to fruition, and we are very excited with the results. We appreciate you all for showing the same excitement. This project was made possible by my team at the shop.”
Unlike the classic .45-70 Govt., Phoenix Weaponry is using a rebated-rimmed .45-70 Auto, which shows sub-MOA results when fired from their latest rifle.
“The cartridge is a 45-70 modified to be rimless (as pictured in the magazine),” Aaron writes. “If you have a lathe to modify the brass, we can sell you the form cutter, or you can buy already modified brass from us.”
The rifle is built on PW’s RFL .308 upper/lower with a custom barrel and bushing. Rounds are fed through a modified Magpul magazine that can hold six cartridges. The weapon weighs just under 10 lbs.
