It’s Official, The Suitcase-Size Minigun Enters Full Production

Two years ago the XM556 was turning heads at SHOT Show 2017. Now the suitcase-sized minigun is going into full production.

Empty Shell’s CEO and president Jeff Pitts said his company has spent two years perfecting and fine tuning their microgun.

“You let your imagination run wild,” he said about this customizable wonder weapon. “You tell me where you want it, and we’ll put it there.”

Half the size of a traditional M134, the XM556 owes it’s micro statue to its 5.56mm round.

Features

  • Chambered in 5.56mm NATO
  • Fires 2,000 to 6,000 rpm
  • Weighs 16 lbs empty
  • Six barrels can rotate in either direction to clear failures
  • Uses 1,000 round backpack

While the XM556 is less powerful than it’s 7.62mm brothers, this defensive suppression weapon is also cheaper, lighter, and more versatile than most miniguns.

The first units are expected to arrive in the hands of the military during the next 6 months. At the moment these weapons will only be available to military and LEOs.

Take a look at some of the variation in the video below.
