Hi-Point, the red-headed step-child of the firearm community, is giving it’s 9mm a new look after two decades.
Creative Director David Kiwacka discussed the upgrade at SHOT Show 2019 on Tuesday.
“This is the first facelift it’s gotten in a long time — since it went from the aluminum frame to a polymer frame — which has been about 20 years,” he explained.
“When you see everything that’s coming out — that’s kind of becoming more standard on guns — nowadays we figure we’d have to up ours and bring it to that same level,” he continued.
Upgrades include a 1911-style grip safety, threaded barrel, lower rail, cocking serration, and ambi controls.
