The Kizer Masu V3697A2 is a full-size, lightweight EDC folder designed by Caleb Waldman, pairing a 3.42" Sandvik 14C28N drop point blade with a vortex pattern micarta handle and a glow-in-the-dark blue G10 backspacer.

14C28N is a Swedish stainless steel that takes a very keen edge, resists rust well and is easy to touch up at home. Kizer hardens it to 59 HRC (plus or minus 1), flat grinds it for clean slicing, and finishes it in a gray PVD coating that adds wear and corrosion protection with a low-glare, understated look. The broad drop point profile handles boxes, camp chores and fishing bait with equal ease, and a large thumb hole doubles as a design signature.

Named for the masu salmon, the handle flows in smooth, fish-like curves that fill a four-finger grip. The scales are black and gray vortex-pattern Micarta, a layered fabric-and-resin composite that is tough, light and naturally grippy, with a swirling pattern that makes every handle a little different. Diagonal texturing along the finger groove and jimping on the spine add control, while the GID backspacer charges in daylight and glows blue after dark, so the knife is easy to find in a tent or a dark bag.

Deployment is by thumb hole, and the Kizer Button Liner Lock gives a solid lockup plus smooth, controlled one-handed closing at the press of a button. A deep carry reversible pocket clip and a weight of about 3.1 oz make the Masu an easy everyday companion.
